Introducing Bethan Bodaszewska
We love following Bethan's journey through @finefoodfeast. Here we talk to Bethan about a few of our passions.
Tell us a little more about your passion for food and photography
For as long as I can remember my life has been entirely led by my love of food. Each day starts with me considering what the next meal will be. Not only due to my love of flavour and feasting but also in large part down to my desire to always be creating an opportunity to sit amongst loved ones and share stories, food & laughter.
I also love to capture moments in time, so often when eating and exploring. Moments of hidden joy and discovery so photography was destined to be my next great love.
I was always snapping a shot and savouring the moments for years to come. Reflecting back and re living the times in my life where we have eaten, explored and shared in the most treasured times.
I have spent a lifetime travelling, my parents were teachers in the private sector and had long holidays. My mum was a house mistress and we lived on site and as soon as the holidays arrived my parents wanted to escape the confines of school and we travelled. I have so many memories that have moulded who I am so I was sure that I would want my children to see the world and all its colours and tastes its flavours just as I had.
How does nature inspire you?
Being in nature is undeniably the source of my most fulfilling memories. I have been at my happiest and most content when being in nature. Swimming in the sea, the freedom that brings. Camping in the outback and the peace and tranquility. Walking in the mountains and the sense of perspective that you get. I love the fast pace of a city break, but only for a fleeting moment. I am always led back to being in the slower pace of nature where my mind can be more restful and see more clearly.
What is your favourite way to spend the weekend?
My favourite weekend would be spent eating, being active and sharing a bottle of wine with loved ones who bring me joy, comfort and inspiration.
I would start my day with a slow morning, time to reflect and enjoy a good cup of coffee. I would follow that with a sauna and cold water swim with my husband and friends. I would then go home via a local market and source some delicious fresh and seasonal dishes. At home, my husband & I would create a simple but flavourful meal, we would cook whilst enjoying a good bottle for wine. The kids would be outside, playing with their cousins. We might take all the kids down to local park and enjoy a cold beer by the lake, then we would enjoy a delicious meal on the deck with friends whilst the kids are fast asleep after a tiring and enjoyable day outdoors.
How would you describe your style?
My style would probably be described by my friends as ‘jazzy’, I have been known to follow my own lead and dress with a splash of colour of pattern! I love comfort and I increasingly value quality over anything else. I love to mix a classic cut or colour with something with a twist. I like functional so I can be comfortable and get good wear out of my clothes but I do also like pieces that shout out to me.
What you are favourite Cape Cove items.
I love my Cape Cove pieces, they encapsulate all the different elements of style that are important to me. Look, quality and durability. My favourite piece to date is my Wander Space Dye Jumper & my Navy Blue Changing Robe. Both of these pieces get so many compliments whenever I wear them. They are such good quality and just so comfortable. The Knit can be dressed up or down and that is perfect for me, I have never been one that felt super comfortable in fancy clothing or being too dressy so I love a casual piece that I can dress up.
If you would visit any place in the world, where would it be and why?
There are so many places in this world that I would still love to visit and so many that I have loved but I think that at the moment, top of my wish list would be either a food filled adventure in Japan, experiencing the incredible culture and history there or a treetop escape in the rainforests of South America.
