Where is home for you?
By the sea.

Tell us a little more about your passion for jewellery.
Jewellery has a unique ability to connect us – to a place, a time, or a person. I truly believe that the quality of our connections is key to much of our happiness. So, creating designs that are centered around storytelling, which are then worn and loved by people, brings me great joy. If a piece becomes a touchstone or a reminder of something special, that personal connection is incredibly meaningful to me.

How did you discover your interest in jewellery?
Honestly, it started with a piece of rather generic jewellery my husband gave me – it just didn’t resonate. We were living abroad in Hong Kong, and that’s when I discovered all these different types of pearls. It was a lightbulb moment for me – I realised pearls could be modernised and integrated into more contemporary designs. I wanted to create something more special and personal. Each pearl is unique, just like us, and I love that no two pearls can ever be the same.

How does nature inspire you?
Nature is a grounding and humbling experience for me. The power of mother nature, the beauty, and the lessons it offers – it all resonates deeply with me. I need to be by the sea as much as I can, but open spaces, clear skies, beautiful trees (yes, I may be a bit of a tree hugger!), and the promise of new life in spring are all magnificent.

What do you love most about time spent in nature?
The perspective it gives me and the grounding it provides. Nature will be here long after I am gone, which reminds me to live as presently as I can.

Can you tell us more about the inspiration behind the Reykjavik collection?
The collection was inspired by a trip I made to Iceland. I was blown away by the raw power of nature and the incredible landscapes. I was drawn to the details – the macro view of a volcano inspired our new Volcano Pearl Hoops. The view of the land fissure from the sky was so powerful. On a smaller scale, the minerals around a geyser were so beautiful and inspired the Molten Lava Studs. I wanted to find pearls with an organic texture to capture the spirit of Iceland – our Biwa Toggle Necklace is the result.

What is your favourite way to spend a weekend/How do you like to spend your free time?
It always involves a swim, especially now that the water is warmer. Every Saturday, we swim in our local lake, which is near a chalk stream river. Being outside, surrounded by the open sky, changing trees, and birds, is so meditative for me. I also love reading, walking, and I make sure to practice yoga on Sunday evening. Cooking is also important – we always have pancakes for breakfast on both Saturday and Sunday, much to the amusement of our grown-up kids. We’re creatures of habit!

How would you describe your style?
Very relaxed. I love a good jumpsuit and a shirt; I’m mostly a jeans and trainers kind of person. However, as I turned 50, I sought some help to re-order my wardrobe after my body changed shape with menopause. It was such a great experience – I rediscovered old items and re-purposed them, bringing everything together to feel a bit more stylish. I’d recommend this process to anyone. Understanding what works for me now was incredibly useful.

Which are your three favourite pieces of Cape Cove clothing and why?
I love your Zip Barrel Khaki Jumpsuit for its relaxed, easy-to-wear style. The new Stella Denim Shirt is beautiful – the fabric is lovely, and the embroidery is stunning, something you do so well. I also adore the new Celestial Stella Blouse; the cheesecloth texture is perfect, and the unique design of your embroidery is always a conversation starter. My first Cape Cove purchase was a similar piece, and I still receive compliments. Your style resonates with mine – high-quality pieces with thoughtful, interesting designs that are subtle and classy, and that fit perfectly with so many other pieces.

If you could visit any place in the world, where would it be and why?
It would probably be the Galapagos Islands. I think the nature and water there are truly unique and beautiful. I’d love the chance to swim in those waters and enjoy the incredible wildlife.
